How To Get the Gig...
Your task is to use www.audiotool.com to create and produce your own track as part of your DJ digital resume.
You will select approximately 15 SAMPLES from the AudioTool digital library.
Your samples need to be SEQUENCED in a musical timeline, but be careful: Merely having each sample play one after the other will not score you any points with the rubric...I mean, party promoter!
You must add EFFECTS to alter the original samples in an interesting and distinguishing way.
Make sure that your track is LOOPED so that it will play on repeat and the party won't stop!
Every DJ has their own personal style. Make musical decisions by giving consideration to TEMPO, DYNAMICS and MOOD.
Musicians have to produce and promote their work! When your track is complete, you must DOWNLOAD it and POST it to your Edgewood Student Weebly Blog.
Good Luck, I hope you get the gig! Please be sure to read the LEARNING TARGETS below so you have a very clear understanding of the vocabulary that ALL THE COOL DJ'S KNOW ABOUT!

- SAMPLING: Sampling is taking a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reusing it in a totally different way.
- SEQUENCING: Sequencing is creating an order or layer of samples, in a musical timeline.
- LOOPING: A Loop is a repeated section of sound material. A single sample or collection of samples can be looped.
- EFFECTS: Effects alter or distort how an audio source sounds. Samples are often modified with effects.
- MIXING: Mixing is a digital process which commences after all of the individual music tracks have been recorded and edited individually. Mixing is a cumulative task that can include: sampling, sequencing, looping, and adding effects.
2. I CAN compare and contrast:
- COMPOSING: Composing is the actual writing or making-up of a piece of music. If you write a melody, that's composing! The composer is the author or originator of musical ideas.
- ARRANGING: Arranging is just what it sounds like- arranging the instruments and vocals that will play and/or sing a pre-existing song by writing the sheet music for each musician. The arranger is the person who takes someone else's song (or part of it) and makes it different by altering it.
- PRODUCING: A producer has many roles, but is chiefly responsible for taking music that has been composed or arranged and turning it into a final product available to a client or the public.
